Selena Gomez: Selena Gomez is marking her 34th birthday this week. The star first found fame on Disney Channel's "Wizards of Waverly Place."
She now headlines Hulu's hit series "Only Murders in the Building." Gomez has also released three solo albums.
Her film credits include "Spring Breakers," the "Hotel Transylvania" franchise and "Emilia Pérez."
Several new projects are on the horizon. Here's a breakdown of four upcoming roles for Gomez, in honor of her birthday.
"Only Murders in the Building" Season 6
Gomez will return as Mabel Mora for Season 6 of the Hulu mystery comedy-drama.
Steve Martin and Martin Short are also back, reprising their roles as Charles-Haden Savage and Oliver Putnam.
The trio first bonded while solving a murder in their New York apartment building.
This season sends the group to London for a brand-new mystery. Guest stars include David Tennant, Nicola Coughlan, Jodie Whittaker, Jim Broadbent, Kathryn Hunter, Richard Ayoade, Simone Ashley, Sharon Horgan and Jennifer Saunders.
Hulu has not confirmed an exact premiere date. A fall release is expected.
"Not Alone"
Gomez is lending her voice to a new animated film from Universal Pictures and Illumination, the studio behind "Despicable Me."
The project reunites her with Timothée Chalamet, her former co-star from "A Rainy Day in New York."
"Not Alone" is a sci-fi romantic comedy. Gomez and Chalamet voice Fran and Joe, an astro-botanist and a rocket mechanic.
Their lives change when three aliens crash-land on Earth.
The voice cast also includes Rob Brydon, Diane Morgan, Jamie Demetriou, Brett Goldstein, Allison Janney and Lamorne Morris.
Illumination released a teaser trailer in June. The film hits theaters in April 2027.
"The Origin of the World"
Gomez will star in an upcoming film from director Brady Corbet, known for "The Brutalist." Variety reported the project in May, describing it as an "X-rated" epic.
Corbet told The Hollywood Reporter in 2025 that the "genre-defying" story is set mostly in the 1970s.
Cate Blanchett and Michael Fassbender are also attached. A release date has not been set.
Linda Ronstadt Biopic
Gomez will portray singer Linda Ronstadt in a planned biopic. Variety reported the project in 2024.
Producer James Keach and Ronstadt's longtime manager, John Boylan, are behind the film.
Ronstadt, 80, is an 11-time Grammy winner best known for her 1975 hit "You're No Good."
She retired in 2012 following a Parkinson's disease diagnosis. She later revealed she has progressive supranuclear palsy.
Gomez spoke about Ronstadt during a 2025 appearance on Amy Poehler's "Good Hang" podcast. She called the singer "a voice of my childhood."
Both women share Mexican heritage. Both have also released Spanish-language albums.
