Ransom Canyon Season 2: Netflix has released Season 2 of "Ransom Canyon," the western drama led by Josh Duhamel.
The show's first season drew a large audience. Fans have waited months for this follow-up.
The series returns to its Texas setting. Expect more tension this time around. Family rivalries and land disputes take center stage, according to Netflix's Tudum.
Show creator April Blair described the new season as focused on community and rebuilding. She noted a sense of hope runs through the episodes.
The story picks up right after Season 1's cliffhanger. Quinn O'Grady, played by Minka Kelly, and Staten Kirkland, played by Duhamel, had split as a couple.
O'Grady returns to Ransom six months later. Kirkland hopes to win her back. Their reunion gets complicated fast.
A new character, Oliver, played by Ben Robson, enters the picture as a rival for O'Grady's affection.
Kirkland also faces trouble at home. His father is at odds with him over the future of the Double K Ranch.
Duhamel explained that Kirkland's character learned ranching from his grandfather, not his father, who stayed largely uninvolved.
He added that the father figure, Sam, is now making questionable calls regarding the ranch.
The cast has expanded for Season 2. Steve Howey joins the show as Kirkland's half-brother.
Patricia Clarkson plays O'Grady's mother. Both actors join the returning Season 1 lineup.
All eight episodes of "Ransom Canyon" Season 2 are streaming now on Netflix. Each episode runs more than 40 minutes.
