Benjamin St Juste Contract: The Green Bay Packers have begun addressing their cornerback depth early in the NFL free agency period.
The team reached an agreement Tuesday with free-agent defensive back Benjamin St-Juste on a two-year contract valued at $10 million.
A person familiar with the negotiations confirmed the deal to ESPN.
St-Juste, 28, is the first player from outside the organization that Green Bay has secured since the NFL’s free-agent negotiating window opened on Monday.
The move reflects the Packers’ effort to strengthen competition at the cornerback position as the franchise continues shaping its roster ahead of the upcoming season.
The Green Bay Packers are expected to address depth at the cornerback position during the offseason.
General manager Brian Gutekunst has previously stated that strengthening the secondary is a priority for the team.
Green Bay is set to return starting cornerbacks Keisean Nixon and Carrington Valentine for the upcoming season.
The franchise must still determine the future of defensive back Nate Hobbs, who joined the roster as a free-agent signing last year.
Hobbs is due a $6.25 million roster bonus if he remains on the team’s roster on the fifth day of the new league year later this month.
The approaching deadline could play a key role in the organization’s decision as it continues evaluating options in the secondary.
Cornerback Benjamin St-Juste enters the next phase of his NFL career after spending time with multiple teams around the league.
He began his professional career with the Washington Commanders, where he played for four seasons and handled a regular role in the secondary.
Last season, St-Juste signed a one-year contract worth $2.5 million with the Los Angeles Chargers.
He appeared in 16 games during the year and started two of them.
The cornerback played 35 percent of the Chargers’ defensive snaps. He also made a significant impact on special teams.
St-Juste was on the field for 67 percent of the team’s special teams plays throughout the season.
Over the course of his career, the 6-foot-3, 200-pound defensive back has played in 70 NFL games.
He has made 47 starts, including 45 during his time in Washington.
St-Juste has recorded two interceptions in his career, one during the 2023 season and another last year.
He has also registered 41 pass breakups across his time in the league.
