Patriots vs Chargers: The New England Patriots earned a 16-3 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday night in the AFC Wild Card Round.

Drake Maye leads the Patriots vs Chargers 16-3 Wild Card win to end New England's six-season playoff victory drought.

New England relied on a strong defensive effort to dictate the pace of the game.

The Chargers struggled to find an offensive rhythm for most of the contest. The result pushed the Patriots deeper into the postseason.

The win also marked a significant step in the franchise’s push to reestablish itself as a playoff force.

The win moves the New England Patriots into the AFC Divisional Round. It brings an end to six years without a deep playoff run.

New England will advance beyond the Wild Card stage for the first time since the 2018 season.

That postseason culminated in a Super Bowl LIII victory over the Los Angeles Rams. The championship marked the sixth NFL title in franchise history.

Since the 2019 season, the Patriots have qualified for the playoffs on only two occasions.

Each of those appearances ended with early exits on Wild Card weekend.

Drake Maye played a central role in the Patriots’ victory over the Chargers. The second-year quarterback delivered another confident performance at the NFL level.

Maye completed 17 of 29 passes for 268 yards. He accounted for one passing touchdown and one interception.

Maye also contributed with his mobility throughout the game.
He finished with 66 rushing yards on 10 carries.

The Patriots will await the outcome of Monday night’s closing Wild Card contest to determine their next opponent.

The matchup will feature the Houston Texans and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The winner is set to meet New England in the AFC Divisional Round. The Patriots did not face the Texans during the regular season.

New England did play Pittsburgh earlier in the year and suffered a loss in Week 3.
