Andrew Vaughn: Aaron Civale is finally getting the trade he wanted. He had pushed back against the Brewers' plan to shift him to the bullpen. Now, the Milwaukee Brewers are sending Civale to the Chicago White Sox.

In return, they’ll receive first baseman Andrew Vaughn. This news comes via ESPN’s Jesse Rogers on Friday.

Just two days ago, the Brewers announced a major change. They planned to move Aaron Civale to the bullpen for the first time in his seven-year MLB career.

The move was meant to clear space in the rotation. Hard-throwing prospect Jacob Misiorowski was set to take that spot.

But Civale wasn’t on board with the bullpen move. He made it clear that he wanted to remain a starter, even if that meant leaving the team.

His agent, Jack Toffey, formally requested a trade from Brewers GM Matt Arnold.

"We’re looking at options that allow me to keep doing what I do best," Civale said on Thursday. "And that’s taking the mound as a starting pitcher."

Civale, who turned 30 on Thursday, holds a 1-2 record with a 4.91 ERA this season. He’s set to become a free agent once the season ends.

With the Brewers finalizing their rotation, Civale was the odd man out. The team chose to move forward with Jacob Misiorowski, Freddy Peralta, Jose Quintana, Quinn Priester, and Chad Patrick.

Misiorowski impressed in his MLB debut on Thursday. He pitched five scoreless innings and helped the Brewers secure a 6-0 win over the St. Louis Cardinals in the first game of a four-game series.

Civale has a career record of 40 wins and 37 losses, along with a 4.06 ERA. He mentioned that the last time he pitched in relief during the regular season was back in his college days at Northeastern.

"Whatever comes next, I’m not totally sure what’s happening," Civale said. "It’s a bit early in the season for a trade, but I know what I’m capable of. And I believe many others do too. Whatever happens next, I’ll take it as it comes."

Civale now moves from the Brewers — a team that has won the last two National League Central titles — to the struggling White Sox.

Chicago has lost over 100 games in each of the past two seasons. This year, they sit at 23-46 and are already 21½ games behind in the American League Central.

Andrew Vaughn, 27, was in his fifth year with the White Sox. This season, he was batting just .189 with five home runs and 19 RBIs over 48 games.

In May, the team sent him down to Triple-A Charlotte. The goal was to help him regain his form and confidence.
