Naomi Osaka Madrid Open: The Madrid Open on Tuesday faced a setback to Naomi Osaka's return to clay-court tennis.
Lucia Bronzetti of Italy shocked the four-time Grand Slam winner Japanese tennis player in the first round.
Unseeded and ranked 55th, Osaka found it difficult to get into a rhythm as Bronzetti won an exciting three-set battle 6-4, 2-6, 6-4.
Osaka had match point in the last set. accordingly the defeat was especially difficult for her.
She played her hardest, but she slipped and lost the match.

But as they met at the net for the customary post-match handshake, Bronzetti made a sportsmanlike move by checking on Osaka.
After losing in the fourth round at the Miami Open, Osaka hadn't played in over a month.
Her clay-court season has gotten off to a poor start with the loss. The fifth-seeded American, Madison Keys, will now be Lucia Bronzetti's opponent in the second round.
Another exciting event in Madrid developed last month when 19-year-old Alexandra Eala shocked everyone by defeating world No. 1 Iga Swiatek in Miami.

Eala defeated Viktoriya Tomova 6-3, 6-2 to move to the second round in Madrid. Now, she will face Swiatek once more in an attempt to replicate her Miami success.
In the meanwhile, American Caroline Dolehide made an impression as well, defeating Elina Avanesyan 6-4, 6-4 to advance to the second round and face Liudmila Samsonova.
All eyes will be on Osaka's ability to recover from this early setback and whether up-and-coming players like Eala may continue their impressive performances in Madrid as the tournament progresses.
